NEBA 2016 KEMPSON VASES
An excellent turnout of 24 qualifying teams were due to play in the Kempson Vases Final at Stannington. Unfortunately, after a long drive to the venue, one team had to scratch when a team member failed to appear. Again, it was good to see a number of new faces playing in NEBA events for the first time. The competition was played in a very friendly spirit throughout. At the interval Frank Springett's team were well in the lead, but an excellent second half performance by David Rossiter's Stockton team snatched the victory. It was great to see this team's genuine excitement and joy at winning.
As usual, the event was very well directed and scored by Chris Benneworth.
Don't leave your camera in the car when the temperature drops close to freezing and expect to take photographs in doors
NEBA 2016 KEMPSON VASES (UPDATE)
Apologies for the article below which was posted this morning before the detailed results came in. I have just been informed that the results were changed after players had left the venue. The winners were Frank Springett, Mike Stanbury , Brenda Osborne and Colin Hepworth. Runners up were the team shown below Ian Reynolds, Jenny Grist, Paul Clarke, David Rossiter. Full results HERE.
Re-scoring was due to a mis-entered score that was mistakenly confirmed by E/W. (Subsequently challenged & corrected.)
NATIONAL PAIRS REGIONAL FINAL
Although thIs was due to be played at Darlington, the only results that I could find for the Northern Region appeared to be those played at Bradford. However the good news, is that the winners were NEBA players Clive Owen & Damian Hassan.
In the Tuesday heat of the EBU Simultaneous Pairs, Graham Cox and Alleyn Erskine from the Wearside Bridge Club are still currently in 2nd position Nationally with an impressive score of 70%.(Wed 11.pm)

Congratulations to Brunton 'A' team who have won the 1st division of the Inter Club competition for the 2nd year running. It is proposed by the Northern Counties to run an improves pairs event. The heats would be run by individual Clubs or a group of Clubs to provide 50% of the heat to take part in a Regional final.
