LIZ MUIR INSTALLED AS CHAIR AT NEBA AGM
In their 40th anniversary year, Bishop Auckland Bridge Club welcomed the NEBA to the Club on Thursday 19th May at 6.30 pm for the holding of the 2016 Annual General Meeting.
Vice Chairman Liz Muir presided and was herself installed as Chair for the ensuing two years.
All other officers were re-elected unopposed. Presentations were made for all trophies won in the 2015-16 year and this included the Division C Trophy awarded to Bishop Auckland for its success in the Inter Club Competition. Malcolm Dawson accepted the trophy in the absence of Team Captain Roger Carpenter. Business was expediently managed and with the meeting over, bridge commenced at 7.00 pm. John Dobson
At the Castle Morpeth AGM & Prize Giving, the family of Tessa Lee presented a handsome new Teams Trophy that they have donated in her memory. In the photo are husband Peter, daughters Becki and Jo, son Josh and grandchildren Jessica and Chloe.
Receiving the trophy are the team winners represented by Kathy Banerji and Jo Lormor (Margaret Andrew and Azhar Mahmood were absent).
Tessa Lee was active in North East bridge circles for many years and introduced many students to the game through her teaching with Morpeth Bridge for All. She is very much missed and this new trophy will keep her memory alive

WHITLEY BAY TYNEMOUTH MERGER
After our committee meeting on the 14th June we have agreed that it would be helpful to add a news item clarifying the situation regarding the merger of the two clubs.
Whitley Bay Bridge Club formed in 1945 and Tynemouth Bridge Club formed in 1949 have amalgamated and formed a new club called Whitley Bay & Tynemouth Bridge Club.
The two clubs have shared the same premises for the last 39 years and have finally agreed on the merger.
It is hoped that administration will be simplified.
North Shields Bridge club also meet at the same venue.
Phil Jackson (Deputy Chairman).
NORTH EAST LEAGUE
The 2016 season starts on July 16 and runs for 4 Saturdays (dates and venues below).

It is a competition in which we enter a team of 8 in the B division only (for experienced club players like those that regularly play in the inter-club for your club).
The team will not be the same for each date because some pairs are not always available and we want to encourage as many pairs to participate as possible.
