News Sept./Oct. 2016
NEBA ANNUAL GREEN POINTED CONGRESS
However as time is now getting short, can I ask those members who have not put in an entry, "Why not enter?" This promises to be a highly enjoyable event. You don't have to play the whole Congress - there are Pairs events and a Newcomer's event on the Friday evening, Swiss Pairs on the Saturday and Swiss Teams on the Sunday. (Gill will be pleased to match up pairs for the teams if you are looking for partners).
To ensure continued success of the Congress, the NEBA needs the support of its members.
Send your entries to Gill Gold firstname.lastname@example.org.

NEBA SWISS PAIRS
Those of you who did not play in the NEBA Swiss Pairs on Wed 31st August missed a very enjoyable event. It was held in Chester le Street Cricket club on a sunny afternoon. They put on an excellent tea of sandwiches, salads and delicious cream cakes, with plenty for everyone. We had a pleasant view over the cricket pitch, to distract us from what was happening at the tables.
The bridge was well organised by David and Norman and was played in a very friendly manner.
I would like to congratulate Jo Lormor and Peter Marshall on winning the event. Thanks also to Mary for organising it so successfully.
I wish that more members would support the efforts of the executive in trying to offer a variety of different events at different times and on different days of the week. It was pleasing to see 11 tables but we could do with many more in future!!
BRIDGE AT BARTON GRANGE
For tremendous value, this short break at Christmas takes some beating. The holiday is arranged by the hotel and last year, the food, and accommodation were excellent. Bridge is ideal for average club players and friendly enough for social bridge players.
