Beginners Bridge (Year

your basic Acol bidding system with all
the strong two opening bids,
pre-emptive bids, 'Stayman'.
and 'Blackwood'.
In the
January term, Elements of Defence will

Bridge for Club
Players |
This class is designed
for all club players who wish to improve their
competitive bidding and play. It is assumed that
students will have already reached a standard of
play equivalent to some level of master ranking.
Following the successful format of last year Neil
will use hands that have occurred in clubs during
the previous week to demonstrate how you might deal
successfully with similar hands. We will look again at the
situations where, after partner makes a lead, you
should give count, attitude, or suit preference
information. Although formal teaching of new
conventions is not usual, Neil will respond to the
request about Lebensohl (for those that want it). |

Play Better Duplicate Bridge |
This class is for intermediate students who learn
better through play.
We had lots of positive
comments from the trial of this new format and
this class will be run privately.
The main focus for this
class is a duplicate play session of ten boards
which will include some set hands on a
particular theme.
Students may, or may not, be told the theme and will
need to recognise the appropriate bid or play
technique required.
At the end of play, Inga or
Neil will suggest how the set hands could have
been handled.
AND
There will also be the opportunity for students
to opt into a more formal hour long lesson on a
more advanced theme with set hands.
