Thank you for organising such an enjoyable weekend. We didn’t do very well at bridge but appreciated the friendly atmosphere, the tasty meals, comfortable hotel and the competent Director. Even the weather was good! Hope to be there next year.

NEBA IN THE TOLLEMACHE 2013
At the weekend the North East team finished third out of nine in a strong section with a score that would have qualified in some sections.
We beat Lancs 12-8 Worcestershire 13-7 Staffs and Shropshire 18-2 Hants 17-3 and Cumbria 20-0 drew with the winners Manchester 10-10 but lost to the other qualifiers Kent 2-18 and our worst result 5-15 to Somerset.
Dear Club Secretaries & Representatives
Thank you to those who have played their heats and sent me their results and entry fees. I would be grateful to receive other heat results and fees from events which have been played.
To those who have heats arranged to be played in late November and early December please note the closing date for entries is 13th December and, therefore, you will need to send your results to me immediately after playing so that I can send you a qualifying letter. If you can ask players on the night of your heat whether or not they wish to qualify this can simplify getting your entries in to me by the 13th. Also, if any players have a request for a specific venue please let me know.
Thank you all for your co-operation.
Jocelyn Gordon Tournament Secretary
At the weekend the trials to select a team to represent England in the Seniors Camrose was held at the Richmond Bridge Club in Lindon . The Camrose is an event contested by all the Home Countries and will be played next year in Northern Ireland. The team captained by Brian Senior and including Clive Owen from the North East and David Kendrick and Roger Gibbons form the Eastern Counties won having led from start to finish. In the final round they beat a team captained by Paul Hackett that include 5 players that had won the Seniors World championship.
This creates an unusual coincidence in that this is the first time a North East player has won an International Seniors cap and Clives son Chris was the first North East Junior to win a juniors cap. At open level Steve Ray has represented England on a number of occasions.
Clive Owen, Brian Senior David Kendrick and Roger Gibbons.
