OK FOR SOME!
The weather in January caused disruption to Wearside, Cramlington (two weeks), Brunton, Newcastle and Castle Morpeth Bridge Clubs and the Chronicle Semi Final at Stannington was postponed for a week.

VAL GIBSON

EBU are sad to announce that Val Gibson has resigned from the Board of the EBU due to ongoing health problems. On behalf of the Board of the EBU and all our members, we thank Val for the very important work she has undertaken on our behalf with the National Club Committee during the last 15 months. Val is limiting her involvement in bridge administration but will continue working locally for the North Eastern Bridge Association. We wish her well in all her endeavours.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM BRAZIL
This message and photograph is from Horacio who played in our region last year. He is shown with the three different partners that he played with at the NEBA congress.

Horacio finished 3rd in the Open Pairs with Simon Hedley, 3rd with Anne Bell in the Congress Pairs and 4th with Mary Page in the Congress Teams. Quite an achievement.

CHANGE OF VENUE
The committee meeting on 7th March will now be at Newcastle Bridge Club premises at West Denton

MANCHESTER CONGRESS
A good start to the year for Liz Muir who won the Michelle Brunner Cup at the Manchester congress earlier this month. Playing with Tracy Capal they just pipped Barry Myers and Sally Brock.

In the teams Tracy and Liz, who were the defending champions with team mates Stuart Matthews and Ted Revely, just failed to make it a double, coming second to John Holland, Ben Green, Michael Byrne and Duncan Happer.
