KEMPSON CUP 2013 WINNERS
Although the official result is not yet through I have heard from a reliable source that the winner of this year's Kempson Cup was the team captained by Martin Kane.
CLUB CHAMPION TEAMS WINNERS
Congratulations to the 2013 Club Champion Teams winners representing Bishop Auckland Bridge Club
John Dobson and Audrey Bainbridge playing with Godfrey and Alison Young.
Congratulations go to Dorothy and Mike Craig who won the Newcastle Congress in an exciting finish.
They won on a Split Tie with Pauline Bell and Janet Angel AND Robert Sread and Pat Tuff. I cannot remember a local event with three pairs ending with the same winning score!
MEETING FOR CLUB SECRETARIES
The meeting of NEBA Club Chairman and Secretaries is definitely going ahead and will be held at Wearside Bridge Club on Wednesday 17 April.
It will start at 10:30 and be followed by a Buffet Lunch and Bridge.
8TH CONSECUTIVE WIN FOR HURWORTH
Congratulations to the Hurworth team who have won the Inter Club teams of 8 for the eigth consecutive year.

SUCCESS AT YORK
In recent years the Northern Easter Festival Congress has been moved from Blackpool to York. The Yorkshire Contract Bridge Association run the event on behalf of the English Bridge Union.
North East players fared well with Alison Young and Audrey Bainbridge winning the Open Pairs and in the main events Beverley Godfrey and Nicola Cockerill –Smith came second in the Swiss Pairs whilst Clive Owen playing with John Holland , Bernard and Rhona Goldenfield from Manchester won the Swiss Teams.
SUCCESS AT PEEBLES
Clive Owen playing with Charles Outred completed a clean sweep at Western District Congress played at Peebles over the weekend of 22nd-24th March.
They started by winning the pre Congress pairs followed by winning the Swiss teams by 21 victory points and finally together with Vi Outred and Roy Bennett the Swiss teams by 18 victory points.
We are sad to advise members that Moira Reid died in hospital on Wednesday 20th March 2013. She was in hospital, due to have a minor operation on her hand, but she suffered a heart attack from which she did not recover. Moira was a long standing member of Brunton Bridge Club and Newcastle Bridge Club where for many, years, she served conscientiously on the Committee taking on many duties. Moira's funeral will be held on Friday 5th, April at 12 noon at
St. Andrew's Cemetery, Hexham.
go to the Bishop Auckland pair of John Little and Brian Myers for gaining overall First Place Nationally in the EBU Stratified Simultaneous Pairs held on Thursday 14th March 2013. With a score of 67.53% John and Brian headed a field of 309 pairs from clubs across the country.

EBU - GRAND MASTERS PAIRS
Congratulations to NEBA players Julian Gibson and John Atthey who won the EBU Harrison Gray Salver for Grand Masters pairs. They competed against 35 other pairs on 2nd/3rd March at the Daventry Court Hotel.
The Darlington seminar at St Georges has been cancelled.
