RULES FOR CLUB HEATS 2010/11

Club Heats Rules Club Reps Masterpoints

It is hoped that ALL Clubs will hold qualifying rounds for the Gazette Cups, the Chronicle Cups, the Kempson Vases and the Summer Pairs Competitions.

Should a Club cancel/postpone a Heat it is essential that any changes are passed on to  all interested parties  via the Tournament Secretary.

1. Qualifying Heats should take place on a club night, before the closing date specified below, ALL players present on the night will take part. Non NEBA Members are permitted to play in the heats, but only NEBA Members can play in the Finals.

2. Club heats must be played before the following closing dates:
Gazette Cups & Shield                                    8th October     2010
Chronicle Cups & St Georges Shield                16th December 2010
Kempson Vases                                             12th February   2011
Summer Pairs                                                4th June          2011

3. Clubs should charge their normal Table Money but should remit 25p.per player (£1 per table)
as entry fees to the Association (payable to NEBA)

Details of the Heats and the Entry Fees should be mailed to the Tournament Secretary as soon as possible after your Club Heat and certainly within 3 working days of the last date for Heats.

Last dates for accepting entries are in NEBA Programme and the attached letter.
Clubs are responsible for the Issue of Master Points at Basic Scale and for the cost of the Certificates.

4. It is probable that some players or pairs will take part in more than one heat.
This is entirely permissible, but the following Rules will apply: -
(a) The qualifying ratio for the Chronicle Cups is
1 pair for every 4 pairs playing. For the other 3 Competitions 1 pair or team for every 5 pairs or teams playing. Clubs will be permitted to go down the ranking list to the pair or team which finished in a position equal to twice the number qualifiers and had a score of at least 50%.

(b)     Some players may qualify more than once and in such cases: -
(i)      Priority in qualification should be given to that attained at their primary Club.
(ii)     If that does not apply then priority should be given to the earliest Heat.
(iii)
Any player playing with more than one partner may choose which partner to play with in the next round.

5. Qualifiers for the Gazette Cups, Kempson Vases and Summer Pairs will play in the Final.

For the Chronicle Cups there will be, at least, 3 semi-finals and from the Combined semi-finals, the. top 14 pairs will play in the Chronicle Cup Final & Green Points will be awarded. The next 24 pairs will play for the St. Georges’ Shield. Green Points will be awarded to top 3 places with LPs to the remaining top 3rd. of the field.  Both Finals will be played on the same date at the same venue.

6.
In Pairs
events NO substitutes are permitted.
In the
Kempson Vases Final the four players may include one player who did not qualify in that team in the qualifying round.
For the Gazette Cups, Kempson Vases and Summer Pairs you will be sent details of the Final
shortly after your Heat Entry has been received.

For the Chronicle Cups, in case it should be necessary to add a fourth semi-final, details of the semi-finals venues will be sent out as soon as
ALL entries have been received. (Latest 30th December.)
