CLUB PLAYERS - CONVENTIONS

Classes Conventions Play On-line

Acol is perhaps one of the most natural bidding systems in the world but it is sufficiently flexible to allow a range of gadgets to added without any loss to its basic structure.

In club bridge you are likely to meet the following conventional bids being played, and it would seem logical that you know what they are. (Whether or not you wish to play them.)

All the conventions outlined here are everyday conventions that can be played by club players.

Weak Twos

Benjaminised Acol -The most popular system. Ogust Responses

Multi Coloured 2D - Thankfully rare in this area.

Weak twos in three suits.

Michaels Cue Bids / UNT

The most popular way of showing two suiters.

Astro and Asptro and Landy

Two of many competitive defences to an opening 1NT

Unassuming Cue Bid

Wriggle

If, after 1NT is doubled, responder's pass is alerted - ASK

NOTE
You can ask the meaning of alerted bids when it is your turn to bid and if  you have a serious intention of making a bid. Otherwise wait until the end of the auction.
